Lang Made believes in creating quality, timeless, products, built to last. This begins with choosing materials that will tell a story personal to its owner over use and time. Sourcing sustainable materials is a crucial part of this process.
Lang Made leather comes from a Tuscan based Tannery called TEMPESTI. The choice in leather was highly researched and chosen not only for its quality and appearance but also due to the environmental protection of the source which it originates from.
TEMPESTI strictly monitors its Vegetable- tanned leather to ensure a low impact on the environment.
No animal is killed for its skin. On the contrary, the raw hides used by this tannery are the discarded by-products of the food industry.
Being tanned with natural tannins, a vegetable- tanned leather object can easily be disposed of at the end of its life, thanks to its chemical- biological characteristics.
This tannery has made huge investments in depuration systems and waste recycling that make them work in the full respect of man and the environment.
Many of the substances used during the tanning process are recovered, recycled and reused in different fields. For example, hair removed from the raw hides is transformed into agricultural fertiliser. Sludge produced by the depuration plants is reused in the construction fields to make bricks.
Vegetable-tanned leather does not contain any toxic substances
